The consultancy service offered under Business Continuity Management includes the development of an appropriate strategy and processes for Business Continuity Planning and Management. This is linked with risk management and the service provided to the client's customers.
Consultancy would typically follow on from a BCM audit, or alternatively can commence with a business impact analysis, risk analysis and a feasibility study. Together with the client, agreed contingency plans will be developed and implemented. Crisis response teams will be formed; overall contingency planning and training procedures put in place and tested.
BCM is not restricted to disaster recovery. All areas of the business need to be protected, so contingency and disaster planning needs to be robust. The consultancy assignment can therefore include not only the traditional areas of fire, sabotage and data protection/ security but also all areas of workforce development, employee protection, security, health and safety, knowledge and information management and ongoing training.
